As far the authenticity of the chhat puja is concerned it is mentioned also in “krishnayajurveda†the ancient yajurveda put forth this in it, a very important and curative aspect of sun in a chapter headed “chhkshukhividyah:†in this chapter of krishnayajurveda it is said clearly how can any person get rid of eye related troubles by worshiping lord sun and especially in the month of kaartik shukla paksha chaturthi, panchami, khashti, and saptami tithis (fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh day of the shukla paksha.) the sun related mantra should be started in these tithis and it should be carried out without any interruption till the trouble ends.
It is also believed since the ancient time … that the sunrays during these days incident on earth in a particular gracious angles (30 to 37 degrees)which have the capability to induce the cosmic energy without any special effort made by us…this all happen because sun keeps himself in a particular position these days… and as we know that this tithis are decided by the Indian methods of astrological calculations and its much more than accrate. we only need to stand in the clear sky near the watery surface that should make us to get these energies without having much electronic hindrances as its also believed that the earth is the sea of electrons and the water mixed with the sand or soil is the conductor of electricity so the free electrons from our body may get earthed easily when a person stands open in the watery reservoir like the pond or river.
And offcourse the meditational and devotional energy towards God sun play an important role in getting rid from all the evils by observing the chhat puja and offering “arghya†to the sun. so we can conclude that it has the double effect for all … one is scientific and other is spiritual and both are in the forms of the grace of lord sun on us … undoubtedly sun is the ultimate source of our livingness in all forms.
